Talk about your brand

Spanish brand, based in Madrid but with Sevillian and Parisian roots.
Its founder, Ana Canalejo, born in Seville but with a professional career developed between Madrid and Paris, was tired of seeing how many international collections and brands used typical elements of Spanish culture, such as flamenco and bullfighting, in garments that had rarely come from a Spanish workshop. Our aesthetic conquered the world, but it was almost never Spanish designers or producers who benefited from it.

Our History

After living in Paris for a while, her vision of fashion refined, and while she still championed her Andalusian roots, she evolved toward a more relaxed and empowering style, the result of observing and blending in with Parisian women. In the room where she lived in the Neully neighborhood, at number 717, she forged a new aesthetic that she wanted to materialize in a contemporary brand that would exude Andalusian essence but avoid clichés. The first garment emerged when she borrowed her mother's shawl, the one she loved so much but rarely wore.

She transformed it into a sarong skirt and wore it to various events where everyone asked about her.
Then the idea arose. Why not give something so much of our own a global audience? Why not make the shawl a garment we can decontextualize and wear 24/7, with stilettos or boots? And so La Jupe Santa Cruz was born, in reference to the beautiful Seville square I missed so much and named after a French woman.

The Jupe

It would be the spearhead of ROOM 717. A jewel. An embroidered silk canvas passed down from mothers to daughters. The Manila shawl is an iconic piece of the Spanish wardrobe, reminiscent of flamenco and traditionalism, but also of exoticism and oriental luxury. It has been worn by aristocrats and humble folk, displayed at fairs and weddings, and portrayed by artists from Sorolla to Julio Romero de Torres.

At ROOM 717, we want you to give it a life beyond all of this. Transformed into a wrap skirt, you can wear it any day of the year, for a night out with your heels, or casually with a sweater and boots. Bring this accessory, so typical of us, to life and bring it into your own space.

About Ana

Ana Canalejo graduated in Law and Business Administration, later specializing in Styling and Fashion Communication at schools in London and Paris. During her time in the City of Light, her life took a turn, and she began an internship at the Hachette group, later working for international editions of Harper's Bazaar and the Spanish website ELLE.es.

In 2018, in Madrid and after having her first child, she decided it was time to give shape to all that creativity that had been brewing in her for a long time and created the brand ROOM 717, which captures all the influence and eclecticism of the cities that shaped her, her native Seville and Paris, always in her heart.
